Juliet Benner

Juliet is a spiritual director and retreat leader with a special interest in art and spirituality - particularly the way in which a contemplative engagement with art can serve as an aid to prayer. Working both with her husband, Dr. David G. Benner, and on her own, in recent years she has lectured and led retreats across North America and in Malaysia, South Africa, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Norway, Hong Kong, and the Philippines.
Juliet has served as a consultant in art in spirituality at theTao Fong Shan Christian Centre in Hong Kong and at the Carey Theological College on the campus of University of British Columbia in Vancouver. For many years she worked as a Docent at the Art Gallery of Hamilton (Ontario, Canada). From 2003 to 2010 Juliet was the Cover Art Editor of Conversations, a bi-annual spiritual formation journal.
Juliet's gift is helping people see. Her book, Contemplative Vision: A Guide to Christian Art and Prayer, teaches people how to meditate on Christian art treasures that are based on a passage of Scripture. By guiding readers into an encounter with the Word behind the art, she offers us an extremely rich tool for contemplative prayer. Released by InterVarsity Press in January 2011, this book is available in Christian and other bookstores or through on-line outlets such as Amazon.
